DIABETES

Diabetes mellitus is a group of diseases marked by high levels of blood glucose resulting from defects in insulin production, insulin action, or both. Diabetes can lead to serious complications and premature death, but people with diabetes can take steps to control the disease and lower the risk of complications.

At our healing center we treat type I, II, and pre-diabetic patients. Your goal is to lower fasting blood glucose, by assisting the body in its potential functioning. We educate patients on proper low glycemic food choices and encourage weight management in coordination with an exercise program. Nutritional support is also recommended and can contribute to the overall goal.

Pre-diabetes is a condition that raises the risk of developing type II diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Some people with pre-diabetes have blood glucose levels higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. People with pre-diabetes have impaired fasting glucose (IFG) or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). Some people have both IFG and IGT.

Reversal of a pre-diabetic state and decreasing the severity of type I & II diabetes are realistic goals. Studies have shown that people with these conditions that manage their diet, supplement essential nutrition, lose weight, and increase their physical activity can prevent or decrease the severity of diabetes and return their blood glucose levels to normal.
